Ingredients

For the Bars

  • 1 Cup butter softened
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda

For the Icing

  • 1 Cup butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3-4 Tablespoons milk
  • few drops food coloring, if desired
  • sprinkles, if desired

Instructions

For the bars:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees and grease a jelly roll pan (13x18) with cooking spray.
  • Cream the butter, sugar, vanilla, and almond extract together. Add in eggs one at a time beating well after each mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix well until combined.
  • Press evenly onto jelly roll pan and bake for 12-15 minutes then cool completely.

For the Icing:

  • Beat the butter, salt, vanilla, and almond together until well mixed.
  • Slowly add in the powdered sugar while on low. Once it is well incorporated, stir on medium.
  • Gradually add in the milk until desired consistency is reached. Icing should be light and fluffy.
  • Stir in the food coloring if using then spread evenly over cooled bars. Decorate with sprinkles if using.
  • Stir in an air tight container.
